Past Project Spotlight: Central Library

It’s nice to be recognized, isn’t it? As a builder we love when our projects are recognized, even years after they’re completed. So while we weren’t surprised, we were flattered to see St. Louis Public Library’s Central Library recognized recently by Fodor’s Travel as one of the 11 most beautiful libraries in the United States.

In 2012, BSI completed a major renewal project that preserved and restored the grand and historic components of the structure’s exterior, while modernizing the interior. In doing so, BSI was able to increase the space available for public use by 83%. Work included a new Center for the Reader, expanded children and teen areas, and the new Creative Experience. A space once used for coal storage is now a beautiful 250-seat auditorium. The project was a huge success, and we’re grateful to St. Louis Public Library for choosing BSI as their construction partner.

Central Library is a “must-visit” for all St. Louisans!
