Safety

We worry about safety so you don't have to!  When we build something for our clients, we understand that we "own" the safety responsibility for the project.  And we take that ownership very seriously.  With a commitment to worker safety that permeates throughout our entire company, BSI achieves safety statistics that are much better than industry average. That means our workers compensation rates are lower, which translates into lower costs for our clients.  Most important, we want our trade workers to go home to their families in good health every night. Virtually every firm touts their safety program, but BSI was the first general contractor in our four state Region VII to be admitted into the Prestigious OSHA Voluntary Protection Program.  Admission into this program is based upon a comprehensive review and includes a detailed onsite evaluation of our safety commitment, practices, and results.

Quality

The measure of a contractor’s commitment to quality is not the process it employs, but rather the results it achieves!  If you look at our history of work in our primary market, no general contracting firm has produced a greater proportion of landmark, high quality buildings than BSI Constructors.  Owners regularly turn to BSI for projects like St. Louis Public Library Central Branch, the Old Post Office, Citygarden, The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, Jazz St. Louis, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, Powell Hall, Kiener Plaza, Washington University Sumers Recreation Center, and many others.  It is by taking ownership of the finished product, and maintaining a corporate culture committed to doing the right thing, that we are often chosen when timeless quality is an absolute necessity for the construction buyer.

Self Perform

While our roots are as a self-perform general contractor, the trend in the industry has been towards “management only” contractors who rely on subcontractors for all of the execution.  We highly value the relationships with our subcontractors and recognize their critical role in construction. Even though we self-perform less work than in the past, we maintain the capability.  Usually, the subcontractor market responds well with good competitive bids. However, there are times when we need to step in to handle a particularly complex or critical element of work.  Our self-perform capabilities cover structural concrete, architectural concrete, structural steel erection, miscellaneous metals installation, carpentry, specialties installation, selective demolition, hand excavation, and general debris removal/cleanup.
