BSI Given Green Light to Start Demolition at MICDS
BSI was excited to finally get to work on the demolition of Mathews Hall and Danforth Chapel at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) Creve Coeur campus this week. Back in September, BSI was selected to serve as Construction Manager for the new MICDS Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Facility (STEM) Building. In June, BSI started the Site Utility relocation work and that is nearing completion prior to classes resuming in mid August. Once the demolition and debris is cleared, the groundbreaking will take place this fall.
The new MICDS STEM +C4C project is a 75,000 sq. ft. addition and 8,000 sq. ft. renovation. This state of the art 3 story building will be comprised of classrooms/labs or “clabs” for math, chemistry, biology, and physics. It will feature lab space dedicated to plant sciences with access to a greenhouse. The building will also have a robotics lab and a 700 seat auditorium. BSI will be incorporating a variety of sustainable design features in pursuit of LEED Certification. The anticpiated completion date is March 2014.
