4 BSI Projects on All-Time "10 Best" List
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently published a feature article titled, “The 10 Best Works of Public Architecture in St. Louis.” We are honored to have worked on four of them!
1. The Pulitzer Arts Foundation – The first public building in the United States by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando. We were the General Contractor and self-perform Concrete Contractor for the project, which opened in 2001. The building is considered one of the finest examples of as-cast architectural concrete in the world.
2. St. Louis Library Central Branch – BSI was Construction Manager for a complete renovation and restoration of this historic library. Originally designed by the famous architect Cass Gilbert and opened in 1912, our work was completed in time for a Grand Re-Opening on the 100th anniversary of the original dedication.
3. The Climatron – BSI, performed a complete renovation and reglazing of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s famous geodesic green house. The structure originally opened in 1960. Our work began in 1988 and was completed in March 1990.
4. The Cathedral Basilica – Our contributions on this one were much more modest compared to the other three, but important nonetheless. Late last year, the BSI team delivered a much-needed renovation and upgrade to the public restrooms at the world-famous Cathedral Basilica.
We are grateful to be the builder that leading St. Louis institutions feel they can trust with their most challenging and noteworthy construction assignments.
