Climb So iLL receives the 2012 AIA Design Award
This year’s St. Louis Design Awards from the American Institute of Architects recognized 14 projects in the categories of craftsmanship, drawings, unbuilt, interiors and architecture. BSI is proud to have served as general contractor for one of the winners for interiors: Climb So iLL and UIC Architects. This project involved a $5 million renovation of the former City Hospital Power Plant Building into a state of the art indoor rock climbing gym. The facility features 50' world-class climbing walls that are proving to rival some of the best east and west coast gyms.
The AIA St. Louis Design Awards Program recognizes and encourages excellence in design with special emphasis on Drawings, and brings attention to works of distinction. The jurors of the AIA award stated, " This project is a creative transformation of an abandoned space into a gallery-like setting, in which the climbing walls become painterly art objects. This is a nice juxtaposition of raw materials and refined details." (www.bizjournals.com)
The awards were presented at a ceremony September 20 at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 Training Center and Union Hall.
Congratulations Climb So iLL and UIC!
